At the very heart of Inner Bay is a family, woven together through hard work, long hours and the most powerful force of all - love. Tony and Judie Soares have been together for 26 years, married for 16, and they have managed to weather the many storms of the restaurant business since their opening in 1995.
When asked what their secret was to staying together, Judie replied, “Respect. Knowing that not every day is going to be perfect, but with a foundation of mutual respect, anything is possible.”
You’re instantly made to feel at home when you walk into the restaurant. Pictures of old friends and guests proudly hang on the walls, which is very refreshing in our ever-changing world that seems to only value all that is shiny and new .
If you’re simply looking for good food without all of the pretense, this must be the place. Our Executive Chef Joe Melo has been a pivotal part of the restaurant community in New Bedford for over 20 years, and Chef Manny keeps all of his recipes stored in the most valuable places of all..in his heart and memory.
From traditional Açorean staples to more complex dishes like Spanish style cod and grilled limpets (a Madeiran delicacy), inspiration is found from all corners of the Iberian peninsula, and portions are….beyond generous. You will never leave hungry, and you’ll be tended to from beginning to end. Last but certainly not least, our desserts are made from scratch by Judie’s sister Cathy, who is also an integral part of the Inner Bay family.
Through Old World charm and authenticity, Inner Bay withstands the test of time, and invites you to be part of our family.
